Since I'm building my own Steam Machine Mini PC I wanted to get an OpenPuck for it to have better controller latency. When looking around for NRF52840 modules I came across this one which is M.2 and designed to be mounted internally.
Since I haven't seen anyone use this I was wondering if something like this should be compatible. In theory I don't see why not but I also have only seen people use USB ones so I'm not sure.
Apologies if this isn't the right place to ask such a question. I did also post about it on Reddit too.

Oh interesting. Didn't know those existed. I honestly have no idea if this would work. Where does one even buy one of those?

Just as a side recommendation, the boards themselves are so tiny, you could easily tuck them into the bezel and use a header to usb adapter instead.
The NRF52840 radio isn't particularly powerful...
If you're sitting close to the PC you'll be fine with it inside the case, but in my living room I'm like 14 ft away from the PC and it kept disconnecting on me when I tried it in the case.

I wanna try this with my mini ITX with a special build where I'll wire two pins to the power button so that I can turn the computer on from shutdown 😅
@DraconicNEO commented on GitHub (Jun 29, 2026):
Something of note, the board I'm looking at is meant to use an external antenna, something like this or this which doesn't change that the radio isn't particularly powerful but it does mean it has a bigger antenna than most of the USB ones. So potentially better signal range, assuming the puck firmware works on it.

I think they sell one on their own website but I also found one here.
@safijari commented on GitHub (Jun 29, 2026):
That is much cheaper than I was expecting it to be. Will maybe get one once I'm back near a desktop again.

Just make sure to also get an antenna like this or similar since I don't think it comes with one that can be mounted internally. It likely won't work without one.
