Been having random disconnects and reconnects while using the open puck on my laptop and also my pc. When using laptop in maybe 10 feet away gaming on my TV in living room and when on pc the Open Puck is about 2-3 feet from my controller. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I've also got this issue, I feel like maybe I need a bigger antenna or something. but I just gotta know what I gotta solder. Unless its not because of the distance but IDK
@stokkes commented on GitHub (Aug 30, 2026):
Just got a board from Amazon and having these issues almost immediately. Puck is a bit further though, 15-16 feet, but the original Valve one didn't have a problem.
I wonder if this would work.. Holyiot nRF52840 USB Dongle With Power Amplification Function

If you end up trying that device let us know if it fixes your issues. I had no issues a month or so ago when I first made my open pucks but now it’s a mess. Tried different cables as well and still having constant disconnects/reconnects.
@irvboy commented on GitHub (Aug 31, 2026):
Wonder if there are some sort of logs that will show what the puck is doing during these disconnects / reconnects. I will check next time I try and use it and report back.

I think it is a signal channel issue and interference. One of the other issues on here mentioned openpuck is hard-coded to a limited set of specific channels for some reason. So if those channels end up with high noise, it is unable to switch to a cleaner channel. I don't know why it was programmed that way, but I think you have to re-build the package with a different channel.
I soldered a longer antenna to my openpuck and for the most part it works. But I as well get the constant disconnects every so often, presumably because the channels it is on are congested and it doesn't switch to a clear channel.
@D3niPhantom commented on GitHub (Sep 2, 2026):
This is happening to me as well.
It looks like a PR was just recently opened to address this, hopefully it's reviewed soon.
@stokkes commented on GitHub (Sep 3, 2026):
Can confirm, edited radio.cpp and changed the channel to 80 and it's been significantly more solid. I don't think I've had a disconnect in a bunch of hours and I was getting them constantly.
Wasn't too difficult to compile - Claude/ChatGPT/Gemini can figure it out.
@safijari commented on GitHub (Oct 14, 2026):
An automated channel selector has been merged and also allows surveying and picking a channel from the webui.
