Is it possible to enable support for the actual PS5 hardware? To use the Steam Controller as the 2nd controller on a PS5 console.
I can offer some help in testing if needed.
@Xriuk commented on GitHub (Jul 15, 2026):
It seems to work on the PS5, but only in Steam/Lizard mode (and only in menus since it is being detected as a mouse), not on the actual DualSense mode. Although it is not very stable as when I press the sticks/dpad it sometimes keeps the input pressed and jumps to the end of a menu.
@GabeConcepcion commented on GitHub (Jul 15, 2026):
I believe this would take complicated authentication methods from a genuine dualsense controller unless PS remote play was used. Other controllers used on ps5 tend to require remote play or products such as Brooks or P5General. The PS5 is pretty strict compared to the other consoles.
@Xriuk commented on GitHub (Jul 15, 2026):
I currently have this adapter which works in connecting an Xbox One controller to the PS5: https://www.mojhon.com/product/adapter/r100pro/
Do you think it uses the authentication as well or there might be a simpler way?
@GabeConcepcion commented on GitHub (Jul 15, 2026):
Certain adapters work only on PS4 versions of the PS5, I believe there's a different authentication on PS4 game versions. That R100 Pro mentions that on the FAQ. I know that many fighting game players used their ps4 fightsticks on PS4 versions on the PS5 console.
Hopefully some others can pitch in on this.

The good folks over at https://gp2040-ce.info/ have done a fair bit of work on this. At minimum it needs an additional dongle for things to work and would require soldering or integration of additional hardware.
At present I am not interested in implementing this but if someone creates a variant I wouldn't be opposed to merging those changes.
@safijari commented on GitHub (Jul 17, 2026):
I am going to close this as unplanned. Happy to integrate any necessary changes that someone adds to make this work in the future but will not be working on this myself.
