This fork ads the ability to, with some very simple circuitry (one resistor, one transistor, optional LED, and some wire) to be able to trigger a system boot from full OFF G3 state to full on, from the Steam Controller.

Combining with a HDMI CEC adapter (self plug https://github.com/katzmatt/CEC4HTPC-Daemon), this implements the most sought after features of the Steam Machine, on a home PC
the additional feature is optional at build, and is only triggered when:
these three features combined prevents the board from sending an errant power button press during normal operation of the booted system
the schematic is incredibly simple and can be easily put together with the most basic of soldering skills

with more skill the circuit board can be made incredibly tiny.
this circuit sits in-line in parallel with the actual button, so original functionality of the front panel case power button is kept.
this is best used with the nRF board inside the PC case for cleanliness, but can easily work with longer wires, outside of the case, I just wouldn't recommend it :)
