Hi, I tried using what seemed to finally be the equivalent of Apollo on Linux, but unfortunately I couldn't get it to work. I hope the logs will help you get it working?
Thanks
@Arbitrate3280 commented on GitHub (Mar 27, 2026):
You're on Bazzite, this is an immutable distro.
You need to overlay the dependencies with rpm-ostree install.
do rpm-ostree install sway swaybg xdg-desktop-portal-wlr and then reboot
@Arbitrate3280 commented on GitHub (Mar 27, 2026):
If after doing this you're still having issues let me know.

well, the "and then reboot" part was just me talking to you.
run only this:
rpm-ostree install sway swaybg xdg-desktop-portal-wlr@moi952 commented on GitHub (Mar 27, 2026):
Oh, how embarrassing! I'm so sorry, I don't even know how I missed it.
The installation is complete.
However, when I run the installer, it launches a second version of Sunshine that's already running (my Sunshine is already active).
What should I do? Can't I just add a command to the "do" and "undo" sections?
Or should I delete my Sunshine installation and leave the one your script launches, but I need it to launch when the computer starts up?
Thanks for your help.
@Arbitrate3280 commented on GitHub (Mar 27, 2026):
can you tell me the service name for your default sunshine installation? you shouldn't need to remove your default sunshine install.
@moi952 commented on GitHub (Mar 27, 2026):
My config ~/.config/systemd/user/sunshine.service
[Unit]
Description=Sunshine AppImage Service
After=graphical-session.target network.target
[Service]
ExecStart=/home/charly/AppImages/sunshine.appimage
Restart=always
RestartSec=5
Important sur Bazzite / Wayland
Environment=DISPLAY=:0
Environment=XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=/run/user/%U
Environment=WAYLAND_DISPLAY=wayland-0
Environment=SUNSHINE_HOME=/home/charly/.config/Sunshine
[Install]
WantedBy=default.target
I think I launched this:
systemctl --user enable --now sunshine-kms.service
What I've noticed is that SUNSHIN_HOME isn't being recognized.
Honestly, I'm not familiar with all this; I used chatgpt to figure it out.
Also, Sunshine appears online in gamescope mode, but I can't connect; I have to switch to desktop mode, so the configuration it gave me isn't ideal, lol.
Keep in mind that my PC always boots in dock mode.
Thanks for your help
@Arbitrate3280 commented on GitHub (Mar 27, 2026):
question, why appimage? afaik bazzite comes with susnhine by default, if you do ujust you will see a setup sunshine option there.
did you do that? does this service come from that, or did you manually installed sunshine app image and created this service?
@moi952 commented on GitHub (Mar 27, 2026):
Because Sunshine is being removed from Bazzite since they're fed up with Sunshine constantly changing things, causing frequent breakages, etc.
The Bazzite package configuration is located in /home/USER/.var/app/dev.lizardbyte.app.Sunshine/config/sunshine, so your script wouldn't have worked natively with the Bazzite version.
Since they're removing the Bazzite version, I preferred to take the initiative and manage my own version; it will be more stable because I no longer have Sunshine from one update to the next.
@Arbitrate3280 commented on GitHub (Mar 27, 2026):
Good to know, I'm on Aurora which is also a Ublue distro and thought things would be similar.
Anyways, delete the duplicate service, do a git pull to get the latest version and re-do the install, let me know if that works please
@moi952 commented on GitHub (Mar 28, 2026):
I dont understand
@moi952 commented on GitHub (Mar 28, 2026):
@moi952 commented on GitHub (Mar 28, 2026):
By any chance, for Linux novices like me, would you be interested in making a fork of Sunshine with a virtual screen?
@Arbitrate3280 commented on GitHub (Mar 31, 2026):
Not at the moment, the LutrisToSunshine approach already is solving the issue enough for me. Plus I'm pretty busy with college, so I don't have the time.
Anyways, idk why it's failing, since your setup is not the default one we will need to debug to figure out.
Please run and paste the output of these commands:
ps aux | grep -i sunshine | grep -v greppython3 -c "import json; d=json.load(open('$HOME/.config/lutristosunshine/display/display.json')); print('execstart:', d.get('sunshine_execstart')); print('unit:', d.get('sunshine_unit_name'))"systemctl --user cat sunshine.servicesystemctl --user list-units --all '*sunshine*' '*Sunshine*'grep 'exec' ~/.config/lutristosunshine/bin/lutristosunshine-start-display-sunshine.sh@Arbitrate3280 commented on GitHub (Jun 3, 2026):
I've rebased from Aurora to Bazzite recently. Added Sunshine Homebrew support for the script and it's been running as expected. If you still have issues let me know.
